Training Content of the CPL(H)

Practice

During the practical training, you will be thoroughly prepared for the professional aspects of helicopter flying. Of course, the schedules can be individually coordinated with us.

The practical part consists of a minimum of 30 flight hours, instrument flight, and VFR (Visual Flight Rules) flights with preparation for the examination flight.

Theory

The theoretical training takes place in the distance and in class courses of our partner company, Helicopter Groundschool.

This ensures you the most flexibility, as this is the way you can learn anywhere and anytime.

The Process

    The PPL(H) must be obtained beforehand if not already possessed.

    The theoretical part of the training takes place in distance and in class courses.

    You take the theoretical exam at the Federal Aviation Office (LBA) in Braunschweig or at Austro Control for example in Arnhem or Vienna.

  • Practice

    The schedules for practical training can be individually arranged. A minimum of 30 flight hours is required if you hold the night flight authorization.

    An examiner FE(H) conducts the practical exam.

  • Done!

    Upon successful completion of the exam, you will receive the CPL(H) license. You are now authorized to fly helicopters commercially!

General Requirements

The following criteria must be met if you wish to undergo training to become a professional helicopter pilot:

  • Minimum age: 18 years
  • Class 1 Medical Certificate
  • PPL(H) with Night Qualification (NQ)
  • Proof of having completed 155 flight hours
  • Proof of sufficient knowledge in Mathematics, Physics, and English
  • Radio communication certificate BZFI/II or AZF
  • Successful completion of theory courses in the following subjects: Air law, Airframe & Systems, Instrumentation, Mass & Balance, Performance, Flight Planning and Monitoring, Human Performance, Meteorology, General Navigation, Radio Navigation, Operational Procedures, Principles of Flight, Communication
